CANNED HEAT - '70 Concert Recorded Live In Europe (USA1970)

I know it’s not their best concert , but the presence of
Al Wilson, Harvey Mandel, Bob Hite, Larry Taylor and Fito De La Para
makes me feel really good... Don’t forget the Boogie!

  1. Definitely one of my most favorite Canned Heat albums. They do a magnificent "Bring It On Home" with superb harp from the Owl. Unfortunately there's those 2 very long miserable songs by the Owl, where he's wallowing in self pity, and those songs kinda drag things down too much. But on the good stuff the band is cooking. There's an interesting moment when someone requests "Dust My Broom" and the Bear says Fleetwood Mac do that better, and someone else shouts out "Bollocks" and the audience are laughing. In 1970 Fleetwood Mac were considered a bit of a joke among the hard core blues fans. They were not taken seriously and looked down upon as playing watered-down blues for the white British fans who couldn't handle the real raw & tough black blues. Of course attitudes have changed somewhat these days, and the Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac has gained much recognition, but back in the late 60s/early 70s no blues aficionados took them seriously.

    1. Thank you Bob for these clarifications on Bob Hite's interventions. It's not really a great "Live", but the interpretations of "Bring It On Home" and also "Let's Work Together" and then the atmosphere of these concerts that I knew well warms my heart!

Really like Al Wilsons work... poor Man.

Mr Mac - I saw Long John Baldry, Fleetwood Mac (w/o Peter Green) and Savoy Brown on the same bill. "Great Show"

  4. I saw Canned Heat in '74, Vestine had come back, Mandel had opened (he had done the album "Shangrenade" before), but joined Canned Heat during their concert! (Lyon 74)
    Thanks for comment Moezeke
